Tour Highlights:

  • The Mysore Palace. This palace is one of the most impressive and one of the largest city palaces in India.
  • Ooty “Queen of hill stations” – is blessed by picturesque views with coffee and tea plantations and trees like conifers, eucalyptus, pine and wattle dotted all over the place.

DAY 01: BANGALORE / MYSORE {140 KM / 2.30 HRS}

In the morning we drive to Mysore enroute visiting Srirangapatnam, about 16 kms from Mysore. Srirangapatnam is built on an island in the Cauvery River and the ruins of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan’s capital are located. In Srirangapatnam we will visit the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, a popular Hindu temple and the Tipu’s summer palace, which is now a museum, set in a well maintained garden. After visiting Srirangapatnam we will drive to Mysore.

Mysore is a magnificent royal city and is world famous for silk and sandalwood. Mysore is also a famous production centre of saris. Mysore is known for the famous temple of goddess Chamundeshwari and the palaces built by Tipu Sultan. Mysore is the second biggest City in the State of Karnataka. It lies 140 kms from the State Headquarters, Bangalore. It is the erstwhile capital of the Mysore Maharajas, who ruled Mysore State from this royal city. Mysore has still an old world charm which have not given way to modern amenities.

DAY 02: MYSORE

After breakfast full day guided sightseeing tour including the Mysore Palace. This palace is one of the most impressive and one of the largest city palace in India. This beautiful Indo-Saracenic palace was built in the 1911-12 at the cost of 4.2 million rupees to replace the former Palace which was burnt down. In the afternoon drive to the village of Somnathapur (33 km) to visit the intricately carved star shaped Prasanna Channakeshara Temple built in 1268 AD during the Hoysala Dynasty. In the evening drive to the Chamundi Hill to visit the Chamundeshwari Temple, huge in structure with a seven storey Gopuram, 40 meters high. On the way up to the hill visit the famous Nandi (Shiva’s Bull) carved out of solid rock and about five meters high.

DAY 03: MYSORE/ OOTY {160 KM / 04 HRS}

Morning after breakfast drive to Ooty covering a distance of 160 km. Upon arrival check in at Hotel for 02 nights.

Udhagamandalam (Ooty), the capital of Nilgiri district, is popularly known as the “Queen of hill stations’ among the tourist circuits. The city is blessed by picturesque views with coffee and tea plantations and trees like conifers, eucalyptus, pine and wattle dotted all over the place. The area was discovered by the British in the early 19th century and developed by John Sullivan as a summer retreat for the British officers in Madras. Some of the main tourist attractions of the city are Botanical Garden, Ooty Lake, Doddabetta Park and Pykara Falls.

After noon commence your sightseeing tour with a visit to The Botanical gardens, laid out in 1847.The picturesque gardens that are maintained by the Horticulture department of the state, cover an area of about 22 hectares. The Gardens have well over 650 species of plants and trees, including a fossil of a tree, which is believed to be more than 20 million years old. The garden is very popular with nature lovers and those who long to walk among greenery and see rare ferns and shrubs up close. Later drive 10 kms off Ooty to visit The Dodabetta Peak which stands at an altitude of 2,623 meters. It is the highest point in the district, making it possibly the best vantage point around Ooty. Many say that on a clear day, which is honestly not that often, one can see far off areas, even the plains of Coimbatore and the flat highlands of Mysore. Post lunch is at leisure to enjoy fishing at the lake.

DAY 04: DAY EXCURSION TO COONNOOR & KOLHATTI WATERFALLS

Full day excursion to Coonnoor & Kolhatty waterfalls: Coonoor is a famous hill station that is 17 kms from ooty. It is probably the second most popular hill station in the Nilgiris. The hill station stands at a height of 1839 meters and is known for its great picnic spots and picturesque surroundings. Also visit the Sim’s Park is spread over an area of 12 hectares and is situated in Upper Coonoor. The park it is believed has more than 1000 plant species, including many flowering plants, pines, ferns and shrubs.Also visit Lamb’s Rock another vantage point that is ideal for taking pictures and is a wonderful picnic spot. It is merely 9kms. From Coonoor and is known for the splendid views it offers of the plains of Coimbatore and the tea states in the surrounding areas. The beautiful Kolhatty waterfalls are about 100 feet in height and are located on the kalhatty slopes. The falls are about 13kms from the city, so anyone on a tour of Ooty can easily check out the falls and the beautiful area surrounding it. Besides, obviously looking at the waterfalls, you can explore the kalhatty-Masinagudi slopes, that are home to many wild species, including panthers, sambhar, bison and wild buffaloes.

DAY 05: OOTY / BANGALORE {290 KM / 06.30 HRS}

Morning after breakfast drive to Bangalore covering a distance of 290 km. On arrival, departure transfer to your Destination {Home} in Bangalore.
